⚠️MD Inspection Alert: Your 2000-2005 classic needs expert metal repair to pass. Handformed precision protects value.
The method of repair depends entirely on how deep the rust has penetrated the metal. We will always fully inspect and assess the damage before recommending a service.
This is the earliest stage, appearing as small bubbles under the paint or light discoloration/pitting on the metal. It is generally localized and has not eaten through the panel.
Service: Sanding, Chemical Treatment, and Refinishing
Process: The area is sanded down completely to bright, bare metal. Any remaining microscopic rust is treated with a rust converter/inhibitor (which converts iron oxide into a stable, black compound). The area is then primed with an epoxy primer, filled (if needed), and repainted/blended to match the surrounding panel.
Our goal is to restore the finish, prevent further spreading, and prep the vehicle for painting.
This is a more severe stage where the rust has started flaking and pitting the metal, creating thin, weak spots or small holes.
Service: Cutting Out and Filling/Patching
Process: The damaged area is ground or sanded out aggressively to ensure all rust is removed. The hole is then repaired using:
We offer "Weld-in Patch" services for a permanent, high-quality repair. We cut a small piece of new sheet metal, expertly shape it to fit, and weld into the hole. The weld is then ground smooth, sealed, and refinished for a factory standard result.
This is the most severe stage, where the rust has completely eaten through the metal, compromising the strength of a panel or a critical frame component. This often affects wheel wells, rocker panels, floorboards, and frame rails.
Service A: Panel Replacement
Process: Entire sections (such as rocker panels, wheel arches, or lower door skins) are cut out and replaced with new sheet metal panels (often referred to as "rust repair panels"). These new sections are spot-welded or butt-welded in place, followed by seam-sealing, filler work, and paint.
Service B: Frame Repair/Reinforcement
Process: For rust on the structural frame or chassis, we completely cut out the rusted section. We fabricate specialized, pre-formed heavy-gauge steel patches and weld them onto the frame to restore your vehicle's original strength and integrity.
